WORKING FROM HOME

WiFi that covers the whole house, not just the hallway

Working from home only works if the WiFi does too. The router your internet supplier gave you is built to get you online, not to cover every floor, every device, and every video call at once. Add a few smart devices, a couple of laptops, and a TV streaming in the next room, and it starts to show.

A properly designed network fixes that with dedicated access points placed for your actual layout, not wherever the cable happened to land, so signal stays strong from the home office to the kitchen to the spare room.

Before you start

Four things worth thinking about

Most jobs come down to a mix of these — knowing roughly what you need before we visit helps us scope the right system from day one.

01

WiFi

Full-strength wireless coverage in every room, with no dead spots between floors or thick walls.

02

Wired devices

Switches and structured cabling for anything that needs a stable, always-on connection.

03

CCTV systems

Cameras covering entrances, driveways, and communal areas, recorded and reviewable from one app.

04

Security & access

Keyless door entry, fob or app-based access, and a log of who came and went.

Why design matters

One access point in the wrong place changes everything

These are real coverage heatmaps from the same property. Green is strong signal, yellow is weak, red is barely usable. The difference isn't the building, it's the network behind it: a standard internet supplier router left wherever the cable happens to land, versus a properly designed system built for the whole house.

Ground floor

Designed install
Ground floor coverage heatmap with access point correctly placed, showing strong green signal across the whole floor

This floor's access point is sized and placed for the space it actually serves, with capacity to spare even when every device in the house is connected at once.

Unplanned install
Ground floor coverage heatmap with access point poorly placed, showing only a small area of green signal and a long inefficient cable run

Everything on this floor is still relying on the same underpowered router from the corner it landed in. Add a few extra phones, laptops, or smart devices and the whole connection starts to struggle.

First floor

Designed install
First floor coverage heatmap with access points correctly planned, showing strong green signal across nearly the entire property

A dedicated access point on each floor, positioned to cover every room evenly. A switch wires in the stationary computer, TV, games console, and CCTV directly, so the wireless side only has to carry what actually needs to be wireless.

Unplanned install
First floor coverage heatmap with a single access point placed in one corner, showing most of the property in weak yellow or red signal

The standard router from the internet supplier, left wherever the incoming cable happens to land — usually for the installer's convenience, not the building's. It isn't powerful enough to cover multiple floors, the WiFi repeaters meant to fill the gaps are unreliable at best, and bandwidth falls over once more than a handful of devices connect at once.

This is exactly what our network design service solves before a single cable is run. Instead of relying on the supplier's standard router and a couple of unreliable repeaters, we plan a dedicated access point for each floor and a switch to wire in the devices that benefit from it most, like your TV, games console, desktop computer, and CCTV, so the install matches the green map, not the red one.

Example design

See exactly what your design looks like before we install anything

Every job starts with a full coverage design for your property: floor-by-floor layout, WiFi coverage across every band, and camera placement, all mapped out before a single device is fitted. Here's a real example from a property in Manchester.

Build your own estimate

Tell us the shape of your property and what you need covered. We'll work out roughly how much hardware that takes and give you a price range. When you're ready, send it through as an enquiry.

2

This estimate does not include running new cabling. It assumes usable cabling is already in place. If cable termination is required, tick the box above and we'll add an allowance, the final cost is confirmed once we've seen the property.

ESTIMATED RANGE — INC. CONSULTATION, SUPPLY & FITTING
£0 – £0

This is an estimate only, and it includes producing the full design (like the example above) for your property. Once the design is complete, we'll confirm the exact quote for the works before anything is installed.
