Most of the windows we replace are 15–20 year old white PVC double glazing.
They weren't a bad choice when they went in, but seals perish, the argon gas in older units slowly leaks out and hardware loosens. A double-glazed window from two decades ago is doing a fraction of the job a current triple-glazed unit does, even though nothing looks obviously broken from the inside.
Genuinely single-glazed timber units do still turn up, usually in older properties that have never been touched, but they're the exception now. For most homes the real upgrade isn't single to double, it's swapping tired double glazing for triple.

Most homes are fitted in a single day, with larger jobs or sliding door installations sometimes running into a second. We'll confirm the schedule once we've measured up and agreed your spec.

Most like-for-like replacements fall under permitted development and don't need planning permission. Conservation areas and listed buildings are the exception; we'll flag it during the consultation and handle the application if it's needed.
