Stop paying to heat the street

Tripple Glazed Windows & Doors, built on WDS Profile systems, fitted to noticeably cut heat loss and outside noise versus the double glazing most homes are still running on.

OLD FRAMES, NEW PROBLEMS

Most of the windows we replace are 15–20 year old white PVC double glazing

They weren't a bad choice when they went in — but seals perish, the argon gas in older units slowly leaks out, and hardware loosens. A double-glazed window from two decades ago is doing a fraction of the job a current triple-glazed unit does, even though nothing looks obviously "broken" about it from the inside.

Genuinely single-glazed timber units do still turn up occasionally — usually in older properties that have never been touched — but they're the exception now, not the rule. For most homes, the real upgrade isn't single-to-double, it's swapping out tired double glazing for triple.

Close-up of a window frame corner
Worn seals & heat loss Gaskets harden and shrink with age, and older sealed units lose the argon fill that was doing the insulating in the first place.
Noise Older double glazing was never spec'd for sound — triple glazing with the right glass combination makes a noticeable difference on a busy road.
Security Hardware and locking mechanisms from 15–20 years ago are a known weak point next to current multi-point locking.
BEFORE YOU START

Four things worth thinking about

Most jobs come down to a mix of these — knowing roughly what you want before we visit helps us scope the right spec from day one.

01

Glazing

Triple glazing as standard now — on the WDS profile system we fit, that's a 0.79 W/m²K U-value and up to 38dB sound reduction (50dB with acoustic glass), well ahead of the double glazing it's replacing.

02

Profile & build quality

76mm, 6-chamber PVC profile with a 3-level gasket seal — built for UK weather, not just a thinner budget frame with triple glass squeezed in.

03

Security

Multi-point locking as standard, with reinforced door profiles built specifically for the loads a front or back door takes day to day.

04

Colour & finish

Lamination finishes beyond plain white, so a triple-glazed upgrade doesn't have to mean going back to the "white PVC" look if that's not what suits the property.

WHY THE UPGRADE IS WORTH IT

What triple glazing actually changes versus tired double glazing

The windows we fit use the WDS 76 MD profile system — a 76mm, 6-chamber PVC profile with a 48mm triple-glazed unit. The figures on the right are WDS's own published specification for that system. The figures on the left are typical for double glazing installed 15–20 years ago, not a measurement of your specific windows — we'll confirm your exact starting point on a site visit.

~73% less heat lost through the glass, comparing WDS 76 MD's 0.79 W/m²K to a typical 15–20 year old double-glazed unit
~50% less outside noise gets through, comparing the WDS 76 MD's sound rating to typical older double glazing
Sound is measured on a logarithmic scale, so that 50% figure comes from the standard rule that a roughly 9–10dB improvement is perceived as about half as loud — not a literal percentage of the dB numbers themselves.

Thermal insulation (U-value — lower is better)

Typical 15–20 year old double glazing~2.8–3.0 W/m²K
WDS 76 MD triple glazing0.79 W/m²K

Sound insulation (Rw — higher is better)

Typical older double glazing~28–30 dB
WDS 76 MD triple glazingup to 38 dB (50 dB with acoustic glass)
U-value and Rw figures for the WDS 76 MD system are from WDS's published technical specification. Older double-glazing figures are general industry ranges for units of that age, not a measurement of any specific property.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a window or door installation take?+
Most homes are fitted in a single day, with larger jobs or bi-fold installations sometimes running into a second. We'll confirm the schedule once we've measured up and confirmed your spec.
Do I need planning permission to replace my windows or doors?+
Most like-for-like replacements fall under permitted development and don't need planning permission. Conservation areas and listed buildings are the exception — we'll flag this during the consultation and handle the application if it's needed.
What happens to my old windows and doors?+
We remove and responsibly dispose of the old units as part of the job — there's nothing for you to arrange separately.
What guarantee comes with the work?+
Our windows and doors come with up to 10 years Insurance Backed Guarantee, alongside our standard contractual guarantee on the installation itself.
Can you match the colour and style to my existing property?+
Yes — frame colour, finish and sightline style are all part of the spec we agree before ordering, so new installations sit naturally alongside whatever's staying.
